HISTORY

Founded in 1971, Whistler was one of the first companies to market radar detectors. It grew to hold the #1 market share position in radar detectors and in the mid 1990’s became a significant market participant in the power inverter market. Whistler is headquartered in Arkansas but has an additional office in Massachusetts.

The images below are some of Whistler's highlights throughout the years in the radar industry.

RE55XK - One of the first dual band radar detectors. This unit solidly locked Whistler as the brand to have.

Q-1000 - One of the first "superhyderdyne" receivers. Provided over 100% better range than the old "pasive" type units (RE55XK).

Spectrum and the companion Q2000 were the Trucker's choice for radar detection!

WH-1 and its twin the Q1200 were the first units under $99!

Spectrum 2 was stylish and powerful. One of the first to have "Pulse" detection, selectable filter mode and band ID.

Spectrum 3SE ultilized a special printed circuit board (PCB) which allowed its small size. Incorporated many of the Spetrum 2 features as well as added auto volume control and a powered mounting bracket.

Spectrum 2SE was the first Whistler to offer Tri-band detection (X, K, and photo Ka-34.3 GHz)

Model 1190SW provided the begining of Whistler's Total BandTM Protection covering X, K, Full Ka and Laser.
